  • AEG Foundation scholarship applications are accepted online only.
  • Applications with all supporting materials, including transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc. must be received by 11:59 PM EST on January 15th of each year. Note that requests for letters of recommendation will not be sent until the applicant has submitted his/her application.
  • Even if you are already an AEG member, you must set up an account for this application separate from your AEG log-in.
  • Although Membership in the AEG Foundation is appreciated, it is not required for the scholarship applications.  A free membership through AEG is required.

  • AEGF scholarship and grant applicants must be US residents, from US educational institutions to qualify.

Beardsley-Kuper Geology Field Camp Scholarship

Funding field camp costs for engineering and environmental geology students.

  1. AEG Student Member
  2. Undergraduate or post baccalaureate student who has not won this award previously.
  3. Attending field camp at an accredited academic with an emphasis on environmental and engineering geology institution.
  4. May be used by recipients to support the direct costs of the field camp tuition as well as meals and lodging.
  5. Applicants must have completed a minimum level of coursework necessary for a basic foundation in geology prior to attending field camp, clearly shown on submitted transcripts. Such coursework may include: mineralogy, petrology, structural geology, geomorphology, stratigraphy.

For rising sophomore, junior, or senior college or university students having Black, Hispanic or Latino/a, Pacific Islander, and/or American Indian/Alaska Native personal heritage.

The AEG Foundation Geosciences Diversity Scholarship is for one or more $5,000 academic scholarships for a sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduate student(s) at an accredited US college or university. This scholarship may be used only for tuition or geoscience lab fees for the recipient. (The Fund does not support general and administrative/overhead costs, technical or scientific consulting fees, or equipment purchase or maintenance costs of an education institution employing or teaching individuals who receive scholarships from it.) Scholarships from the Fund are not payment for services and are intended to be “qualified scholarships” as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

  1. Have a personal heritage of Black, Hispanic or Latino/a, Pacific Islander, and/or American Indian/Alaska Native
  2. Have a declared major studies in the Geosciences, such as Geology, Geophysics, Earth and Planetary Sciences, and related geoscience subjects
  3. Undergraduate student in the Sophomore, Junior, or Senior years
  4. Have a GPA of at least 2.9, confirmed by a school transcript directly from the school
  5. Have a potential for contributions to the Geosciences profession
  6. Exhibit leadership abilities and/or experience

Marliave Scholarship

Recognizing outstanding scholarship and professional dedication by students in engineering geology or geological engineering.

  2. Senior or graduate student presently enrolled full-time in a college or university degree program in engineering geology or geological engineering.
  3. Nomination or sponsorship letter from a faculty member, an employer or geoscience professional with knowledge of the applicant's qualifications. The sponsor/nominator should be a member of AEG and it is encouraged to have this individual be a Student Chapter Advisor or AEG Section Officer.
  4. Two letters of reference (in addition to the Nomination/Sponsorship Letter listed above) must be submitted online by persons in the profession who can evaluate the applicant's qualifications to become a Marliave Scholar.
  5. Description of current and anticipated future involvement in the Association of Environmental & Engineering Geologists.
  6. The goals statement must be original and must not be edited by a professor or others in the profession.
